The National Coalition for Equity in Education employs structures such as Personal Experience Panels and dyads that get to the deepest emotional-psychological experiences of prejudice and discrimination, and healing the pain of racism and other forms of oppression through expression of feelings and personal reflections. The goal of the Equity in Mathematics Education Leadership Institute (EMELI) is to increase the ability of mathematics education reform leaders to effectively and productively address equity, in order that teachers and schools will change practices that impede the learning of students from groups underrepresented in mathematics.
